Opinions are like belly buttons, everybody has one!
Opinions are an interesting thing, it’s something that you may not necessarily understand if it doesn’t come from you nor will you be accepting of it, if it isn’t in your favor (most of the time). Prime example, say you are going back to school to further your education and one of your Aunt says “She has a good job, it doesn’t make any sense for her to be trying to do something different as old as she is.” This is just an example of something that could be said in this situation.
Are they wrong? Yes and No!
I am all for people furthering their education but your Aunt is completely “justified” in how she feels and is 100% entitled to her opinion. Now when you, her ready-to-get-her-education niece hear about her about her statement, you are immediately going to think that she is wrong and out of line for her comment! However if your Aunt says “That is wonderful that she does something to better herself. I am so proud of her! I always knew that she was destined for greatness!” You are going to respond in a completely different manner and you may even start to call her your favorite Aunty!
The moral of the story is, having an opinion is a part of human nature and it is something that you are absolutely entitled to and with believing that you are entitled to your opinion you have to acknowledge that other people are entitled to theirs. Wrong, Right or Indifferent!
Now, do I want to hear your opinion, probably not! Nevertheless, I am slowly but surely learning that opinions have to be taken with a grain of salt due to the fact that as long as I am lining up with what God wants me to do, I either have to take your opinion with a grain of salt or disregard it all together. And, nine times out of ten I’ll disregard it all together. I still love you though!!!
